Linda O’Connor

Linda started her dance career with a ballet school in London in 1964. When her family moved to Dublin, Linda trained with Norma Barry in Donaghmede, and when Norma retired, Linda took over the dance school and renamed it Lindy’s School of Dance. At the same time, Linda completed a Masters in Clinical Science and Laboratory medicine at TU, a diploma in step aerobics (ITEC), a diploma in exercise to music (ITEC), a diploma in gym instruction (ITEC) and a beautician’s diploma (CBTEC, ITEC). When she moved to Drogheda in 2002, Linda opened Lyndance Academy, a successful mutli-genre dance academy. The dancers competed and won many title in Ireland, UK and Portugal.

In 2020, Linda and her daughter Shelly rebranded Lyndance Academy and opened Starlight Academy, in a beautiful purpose-built dance academy in Aston Village, Drogheda. Linda teaches tap, stage performance and speech and drama at Starlight. She also teaches the students about the biomechanics of dance and her students can recite all of the major muscles and bones in the human body.
